Tessitura Valerio
Museumstekstiler.dk has their fabrics woven according to their own designs and qualities in a small family weaving mill in a village in the Alps.
The father passed the weaving mill to his son Andrea a couple of years ago. Andrea now runs it together with his mother. They have 4 looms. They weave very fine cotton cloth and woolen fabrics using fantasy yarns. It's rare - and a sign of a new aera - to weave fabrics so diverse. Traditionally different areas in Italy have specialized in different types of fabrics: in this specific area the specialization has been fine cashmere fabrics.
Family-based textile industry use to be common.
Sadly only few of these family work- shops are left.
Museumstekstiler.dk wants to help keeping the family tradition and the proud European textile industry alive, even though the production prices are higher than 3rd world products.
